Legacy is a national non-profit organisation founded in 1923 with a promise to help veterans’ families continue with their lives after the loss or injury of their loved ones. For nearly 100 years, Legacy has helped hundreds of thousands of Australian widows, families and children of defence personnel who have lost their lives or health during or following service in all conflicts since World War I to Iraq and Peacekeeping operations.

Our vision is our promise to provide balanced long-term support to Australian Veteran families; providing the same stability, guidance, and assistance that a partner would normally provide to his or her family. Our work hopes to ensure no child of a veteran suffers financial or social disadvantage as a result of their loved ones’ death or injury from service.

Legacy’s services currently assist more than 43,000 beneficiaries, including 1,300 children and 1,100 people with a disability. Our services are provided by more than 3,600 members (called Legatees) and community service workers.

Whilst Armidale Legacy Club is based in Armidale we have contact groups in Guyra, Glen Innes and Tenterfield.
